example: the school's playground

To make school a possessive noun you have to add an apostrophe and s. It will look like this School's.
Example:Those books are the school's property.
Example 2: I like going to the school's library.

Hope this helped.

School's

Remember to never forget your apostrophe when showing posession. It makes a huge difference:

Right:

School's = [posessive] - By using an apostrophe, you are stating that anything that comes imediately after the word "school's" belongs to the school.

Example: " Mr. Rodney is the school's principal"
In this sentence, 'school' shows posession of the principal (so to speak).
Ask yourself this question:
Who's principal?
- The school's principal

Wrong:

Schools = [plural] By not using the apostrophe, you are talking about many, or more than one schools

Example: "There are two schools in the small town."
In this case, its pretty obvious, you are talking about more than one schools - two.

This works for other nouns too. Just add 's after the noun. Here are some examples:

People's (things)
Phone's (buttons)
Computer's (keyboard)
Sun's (rays)
etc...

Hope I helped!! :)

It is the school's policy to give detention to people who are late.

The posession of the school is the policy.

Add apostrophe s.

I attended the school's open house.

I met the school's principal.

The school's lawn is very green.

The first answerer made it plural, not possessive.

If it is one school you are talking about, then school's, but if more than one then schools'.
