Actually if you look at things from the big historical perspective and at the whole world, instead of at one little section of it, there is more peace NOW, like in the last 25 years, than there has EVER been.
Before World War I and World War II the world was always at war. There has essentially been very few times in the existence of humankind that there has not been a war going on somewhere on earth. For MOST in fact ALMOST ALL of earth's history, humans have made war. Peaceful time periods or those where there were only a few small wars in small areas have been much rarer than periods of conflict.
That is what many people do not understand, many, many more people died in the wars of the past ( as a percentage of the population ) than they do now. During the crusades for instance, many were killed in warfare. The Aztecs routinely practiced warfare, capturing neighboring tribes and doing huge amounts of sacrifices to their bloody gods.
What we have now are very small controlled wars, and much more peace and prosperity than our predecessors did.

Humans are violent creatures by nature. To think otherwise is to be deluded. Violence is inherent in us for competition, competition over resources, over ideologies, etc. When we are not in conflict, we like to watch it - TV, movies and sports give us the addrenaline our bodies crave and do not get in our peaceful world. TV, action movies, reality tv and sports are the modern equivilent to the romans watching gladiators kill people and tear them apart for entertainment.
Sports are a type of controlling this male urge in a positive way.
During the middle ages, they organized jousts and combats not only to train warriors and keep them sharp but to release the violent tendencies of their populations.
As we find more technological ways to release our violence, such as video games, we may fight less in actual combats.

Or is the reverse true - does exercising this part of our natures only strengthen it?
The violence is in us and as long as it is we will never have peace in this world. The only possible solution is to evolve out of it but that is millions of years in our future.

1: RELIGION: Terrorism in thy name.
2: General Hatred of others way of Life.
3: The feeling of Entitlement? If it isn't ours It should be.
4: Soon to be followed by. War over natural resources. Oil, Water, ect.
Those pretty much sum up WAR as we are currently experiencing it all over this world.

There is War and always will be. Why? because we are all differnt. Differences in people whether it's physical or political will always cause conflict. The Wars that are led now are as violent as any other time in history. Get used to War because it isn't going away.

Because the world is full of people. As long as there have been people, there has been war. As long as there are people, there will be war.

Not that this is a good excuse, but sometimes war is necessary for peace in the future. It might not make sense now, but later it will.

Can you get many people to tell you the color of the sky.
do they all say the same exact color or are there variations.
sky blue, light blue, midnight blue.
For true peace to happen you need all 5 billion people to agree on it at once. If one dissagrees he will take control of everyone else unless someone fights him----war???

Peace is not part of human nature. It will never happen. As long as there are different beliefs and opinions, fighting will continue.
