Tough problem with the information you gave, I want to say bring it over and lets have a look, but that's not practical. Is it carberated or fuel injected. I suspect that one or more of your ignition modules is either not working or the plug wires are installed incorrectly. If you don't have one, buy a Chilton's manual for that car, they are about $20 and while not perfect, they are worth their weight in gold for stuff like this. Retrace your steps taken since the first problem arose, check that everything was correctly hooked up, particularly check if any vacuum lines are off or broken. the vacuum lines I'm talking about are made of 1/8" black plastic, you'll see them running all over the place under the hood. one of them could have been broken when the plugs were changed they get very brittle with age. Our car is a year newer than yours and this was a problem I found just yesterday. If you have access to a code reader, plug it in and it'll save you hours and hours of frustration and sleepless nights.

Did you fail to tell us that the check engine light is on? It almost has to be with all the problems you describe.

If the light is on, go to the AutoZone web site and look up how to read the check engine light codes. It will take some playing around to get the feel of how it works but keep trying.

Once you pin down the error code, the AutoZone web site will tell you what is causing the light to come on and how to isolate the problem.

It is fuel related, could be the fuel pressure regulator, not enough fuel pressure, your engine will idle, but nor enough gas to drive it.

Well..it sounds like you have eliminated alot of the usual suspects. My guess would be the fuel pump at this point although I suspect it could also be something deeper along the lines of a bad/broken valve.

Fuel Filter, sounds like fuel problem, bad fuel

Its either the oxygen sensor, or the rheostat on the coil (if it is so equipped). Both are easy repairs, and your have spent a lot of money in the wrong area.
