How can I appear to be confident even when I am not? Any tips? I am afraid that at work I can't continue to make such an a** of myself. What with nervous habits such as biting my lip, playing with my hair & touching my face, I need to know how I can break the cycle and get over it!

How about standing up straight and tall and when in a group being the one doing a bit more talking in a reassuring voice. You will look a lot more confident if you make eye contact and take the upper hand on things too. Good luck!

I am not sure what you do for a living or how you spend your social time. Some people are just shy and unconfident all the time.

Go travelling
Get a hobby that invloves other people you don't know.

Practice and age are the key.
The older you get the more confident you get.

Disagree with people from time to time and put valid arguments forward for your belief.

Don't believe the hype!

Sometimes people get stuck.
When you do, it can be terribly difficult to get out of it on your own.
That is what psychotherapy is for, helping people to break out of a difficult place. So, I would ring a few psychotherapists in your area. Talk to them about your situation and ask them what they think. Then choose the one you most like.
It's much easier to overcome a lack of confidence when you have a helping hand.
(No, I'm not a psychotherapist.)
Good luck, Ally
