i never ever talk in class. i've always been this way and i've tried to change, but it's hard. i've gotten made fun of because of it, i've found out that guys don't like shy girls all that much, and i've gotten called stuck-up a lot of times because people think the reason i don't talk is because i think i'm better than everyone. when really it's the opposite, i'm self-consious of saying something stupid. please help me find a way to be more outgoing.

You sound like me!! I was just like that in school, I only ever opened up with my close friends. What changed for me was working in an environment where I had to talk to complete strangers all the time, I waited tables! I don't know how old you are so something like that might not be practical. What about a drama or acting class where you have to put yourself outside your comfort zone? As for guys not liking shy girls, not true! Just be you and the people who like who you just the way you are, those are your real friends! Even if you are so uncomfortable that you can't speak (I know the feeling well!) make sure you smile genuinely so that people know you aren't being aloof.

I am the same way as you are and it's not fun. As a shy person I never really accomplished anything good out of that. I would have to be out of my comfort zone and be who I am. Some of the ways I've done this is to be honest with myself, be comfortable in my own skin, and try my best not to offend anyone. I know how hard this must be for you but find something your comfortable enough to get you to open up and I wish you all the best.

Just be yourself. If you have something you want to say just say it, and don't care about what other people think! The worst that could happen is that it sounds stupid or offends somebody, but that's better than not trying at all. Yes, it's hard at first but it'll get easier, you'll get more comfortable talking to people, realizing that there's nothing to be afraid of, and how much fun socializing can be.
