Anyone going onto the arts actor/actress is in for a lifetime of ups & downs heartbreaks & disappointment!! this is true of many fields just like example of the highest life ins. is paid by astronauts & racecar drivers. For a person to grow they need to be able to take constructive criticism;more true in acting & performing careers. To handle this in a democratic way u need ur parents and the backup support from your past experience in acting which is not a lot since you r still in college. Maybe u can approach HS teachers or any civic groups you've performed with. Then u diplomatically approach your college professor, and tell her u don't believe these people will agree with you!!!!!!

It's a learning lesson. If you asked her for a letter recommending you, she's got a right to write whatever she wants--true or not. In the future, ask your professors if they feel that they know you well enough to write a positive, specific letter on your behalf. Most professors won't write a bad letter. Instead, they'll decline your request. But it sounds like this might have been personal.

I'd try to find another mentor or teacher or professor to write a letter which will hopefully offset this damage. Don't waste your time going to the dean. They can't help you with this.

if you are upset why don't you go and speak with the dean. maybe they can set up a meeting so you can discuss what was said and why it was said. argue your points to a neutral party.

if the dean agrees with you maybe they can call the scholarship committee and let them know that she had a change of heart. it wouldn't hurt to try.

concentrate on your school work and getting the basics out of the way and then try again for drama next year.

good luck. SD

Explain the the scholarship committee why you deserve the sholarship. Show off. Maybe talk to your dean about your teacher's fallous remarks.
