You're lucky I'm studying for the GMAT, because otherwise I haven't done algebra in 10 years! Hopefully this will help you.

1. X = 2

When you subtract negative 8 from the left, you get 56x = 112. Divde both by 56, leaves x = 2

2. X = 3

Order of operations - parenthases, exponents, multiply & divide, add & subtract. Just go in order, and you'll get 4x-30 = -9 - 3x. That breaks down to 7x = 21, divide by 7 on both sides and you get x=3

3. No solution.

Once you break it down you get 6x-5 = 8+6x. Cancel the 6x's and you get -5=8. No solution

4. False

Plug in -2, and you will eventually get 2x = 18, or after division x = 9. Even if you forget that z is negative, this is still false.

5. y = 3

Subtract 10 from both sides. That gives you 13y = 39. Divide both sides by 13 and you're left with y = 3.

6. I believe you're looking for QUADRATIC equations, but you may want to double check (those are the ones where one side will be zero, and your solution is usually a choice between positive and negative)

7. x=-4

Subtract negative 8.5 each side, and that gives you -13x=52. Divide both sides by negative 13 and you get x=-4

Hope this helps. Keep practicing, and it will get easier.

1- 56x-8=104, you take 8 +104 =112 divide by 56=2
2-4x-34+4=-9-3,you add -34+4=-30add9=-21, sub.-3-4=-7, then divide -21by-7=3(d)
3-F
4-12-6=12=b
5-sub.10and then put 13 under 49 and 10
6?
7-x=-4(c)
