I loved the humanity of the characters, the time period and the brutal honesty of what life was really like in those times. I also loved the erotica in the novel. Does anyone know of any good books similar to this one?

This may be years too late, but I too loved this book. Its up there with my all time favorite "The witching hour" by Anne Rice. A couple other good one to check out are: The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane and Angelology by Danielle Trussoni. Happy reading!

I loved Tobsha Learner's "The Witch of Cologne."
Some other great historical fiction I have read are:
Tracy Chevalier's "Girl With a Pearl Earring" (This one is a romance, too)
Matthew Pearl's "The Dante Club" and "The Poe Shadow" (thriller/myster)
Kathryn Lasky's "Beyond the Burning Time" and "Blood Secret" (young adult)
Elizabeth George Speare's "The Witch of Blackbird (children's fiction, but still a great read)
