That is your mucous plug. Mine just started with really no signs and I was 6 days early. But you'll know when you're actually in labor. Trust me, there is no other pain that can compare. Good Luck!

i lost my plug 2 weeks prior to giving birth. as for labor it can happen at anytime after you lose your plug within a few hrs or days just depends on the person. I know not the answer you wanted. When you are in labor if you are "normal" I hear that the contractions will be slightly painful in the beginning and frequent. I was both blessed and cursed with an incompetent and dynamic cervix meaning I dont feel labor pains and can not tell when I am contracting but also means I am a very high risk pregnancy. Hope your not like this but if you are labor will be a breeze. goodluck

You may pass your mucus plug — the small amount of thickened mucus that's sealed your cervical canal during the last nine months — if your cervix begins to dilate as you get close to labor. The plug may come out all at once in a lump, or as increased vaginal discharge over the course of several days. The mucus may be tinged with blood (which may be brown, pink, or red, or yellowish), which is why it's referred to as "bloody show." Having sex or a vaginal exam can also disturb your mucus plug and cause you to see some bloody discharge even when labor isn't going to start in the next few days. In either case, if you see more than a few spots of blood, be sure to call your caregiver immediately because it could be a sign of a problem.

Oh, you are sooo close. It sounds as if you are starting to lose your mucus plug. You could go into labor at any time. Alot of women refer to it in the beginning as feeling as if though you might have a need to go and have a bowel movement, then some think of it as a menstrual cramp. Whenever you start feeling the pain, time how long it will takes to have another. Once you get to about 10 minutes apart, call the doc. Good luck and I wish you well.

Be ready!

Contractions feel like when your body is trying to poop-sounds horrid, but that's how it feels-like a combination of that and cramps.

Hot dog! Enjoy these last hours/days or freedom!
