Okay...so my sister says I can sing VERY good. (For some reason, I can't believe her.) I record myself singing, and I guess I'm okay, but not GREAT like she says. She says I am a mix of Christina Aguleira and Carrie Underwood put together. (Because of my southern accent.) My mom said I should try singing for a change instead of acting. (I have already had to acting jobs this year, and its my first year of acting. I'm only thirteen.) What do I do? I mean, I love to sing AND act. My friends tell me I can sing good, too. I'll be singing at the lunch table to myself and they say, "Oh my God! Is that you singing?" I am thinking about posting a video of myself singing on YouTube. My dad said I will be famous one day, no doubt. So what should I do? Are they just being nice to me? Should I try posting a video? Thanks!

BTW: My family REALLY needs extra money now...we don't have a lot of money AT ALL. We can only get necessities. Is there anything to that I can do to help with my voice or acting? Thanks!

If you do it... be prepared for criticism. If you can handle praise and punishment then you should do it. I don't think that your family would be trying to humiliate you.

I agree with the others that posting a video would be a great way to get opinions of your singing and to possibly even get noticed by someone in the music business. But if you're feeling shy or just want to maintain your anonymity until you see how your singing is received, I'd recommend shooting the video in a way that doesn't show your face (with silhouetting, for example). And of course, don't use your real name. The freedom of being anonymous might even help your performance. Good luck!

doin the video one youtube will be really good.....once ppl notice they ask u 2 post more videos and u become popular. Make a music myspace and post ur songs on there have other famous singers and producers on ur top 5 or wateva it is; comment them and send messages to them askin 2 listen 2 ur music. i believe it would be better 4 u 2 get into singin and then when u get big switch into acting. If u do decide to put a video on youtube make sure u send it 2 me so i can listen 2 it....we need REALLL singers in the music industry...good luck:)

I think u should do what you really like and want to. Maybe try both out for a little and see what you think of each. Also, generally friends will be honest with you, so if you're friends say you a good singer, then you probably are. I think it would be cool if you posted something on YouTube cuz then other people could see if you're a good singer.

there is no harm in putting a video online. i say give it a shot what the hell y not. and your only 13, live a little, dont worry about careers in acting or singing yet. u kno, ppl do have careers in both. look at beyonce.

Sure! And you can share it with us when you're done. But make sure it's a song you wrote, is in public domain, or you have permission to record. Otherwise it's seriously illegial and yes, the big music publishers do have ways to find out.

Well, why don't you put your video on YouTube? I think it would be great! If everyone is telling you that you have a great voice, I don't think they would lie to you. Go for it!!! You will have to let me know when & if you put it up so I can see!
