Someone in my family was very sick recently and happened to do so on my new sofa, what do you use to clean fabric and take the smell out? I don't want to just spray frebreez on it before it is clean. So what is best to clean and remove the smell, but is still safe for microfiber. I think the people at Ashley (where we got it from) said resolve would be ok. I know to test it first, but I do not want to waste the money on it if someone knows it will not work. Thanks!!

Pet-supply stores sell an enzyme cleaner that removes stains and odor from any kind of organic substance -- including vomit, blood, pet accidents.... The enzyme cleaner has no fragrance. It really worked when I spilled milk in my car and it soured.

i guess the material doesnt unzip off the cushion or you'd have thrown in in the wash, on cold?? I would think if you can get it wet and let the whole cushion dry near the sun, just use a small amount of dish soap and a white washcloth, and rinse with cold water. Dont get it too soapy at once. For the next vomit episode have some Equalizer on hand. It is a spray can (white with green and black writing). I have only seen it at vet hospitals. About $11-$15. It will last for several vomits, but works really only best on fresh vomit and poo. I have always kept a can on hand for when my cats puke on the couch or carpet.

try baking soda and water. Baking soda absorbs smell and it is a cleaner too. Milk got spilled really bad in the back seat of my son's car. The smell was horrendous. I took a bucket of water and put about half a box in it. Mixed it and dumped it in the car the same way the milk got spilled. This was after about a week or 2 of trying to find things to clean it with. It soaked down the same way the milk did. The smell was gone. It was summertime too. Don't be too afraid to dump it on. But be careful cause baking soda has a salt base to it. You don't wanna bleach the fabric.
You could also get a steam cleaner and put baking soda and tide in the water bucket part. put 1/2 cup of fabric softener in the return bucket so it doesn't suds up. The steamer will put the water in and pull it back out. Soak it then suck it back out. I've done this too.

If you are in the United States, Sam's Club and some grocery stores sell a product called ODOBAN. (concentrated) It works on the principal of eliminating organic smells, and that includes bodily fluids and vomit, and urine, works every time!
