If you breastfeed that's the fastest way. I had a c-section and couldn't exercise for at least 6 to 8 weeks after I gave birth. By breastfeeding I was able to lose all but 7lbs by my 4 week checkup.

If you aren't breastfeeding first check with your doctor and get the "ok" to start exercising again. Start off slow (walking is always good) and don't overdo it. Some of your pregnancy exercises (kegels) are also good to keep doing. Eat right and drink a lot of water.

The main thing you have to remember is that its only been 3 weeks since you gave birth and your body has gone through a lot. It took 9 months to put that weight on and it's going to take time to get it off.

Good luck!

First of all, Congrats! I just had a baby girl 5 weeks ago. Don't worry about lossing anything until after your 6 week check up. You are recovering from a very hard and stressful workout! Child birth is a marathon that takes energy and now your body is trying to heal.
If you are breastfeeding then wonderful, you will usually lose some weight while doing that. If you are not and giving formula you will be able to do other things to lose the extra weight. Many OB/GYN's will help to advise you on the best way to lose the baby fat.
As for not fitting into anything preprego. Don't stress... focus on your new bundle of joy. You will need the rest and energy that you are wasting on worry about a few extra pounds to keep up with an active baby.

Honestly, I am all for breastfeeding but I also just had a baby 4 months ago. i came back to work and had to stop breastfeeding because of the time it took. Since I have stopped I have lost a lot more weight because when you breastfeed your body holds on to that last ten pounds to nourish your baby. Breastfeeding does burn a ton of calories so keep it up if you can but when you stop you will lose some weight. Also try to exercise as much as you can even though your extremely busy.....not enough hours in the day.

Firstly, give yourself time. 3 weeks after giving birth isn't a time to panic.

Start walking with the baby. Instead of getting in the car, walk to the shops. If you are breastfeeding this will also burn lots of calories.

Now is not the time to eat junk food. Eat lean, grilled meats with either steamed vegies or salads (skip the dressing). Make sure you have a lot of fresh fruit too. Eating like this will keep you healthy so you can breastfeed the baby and keep up with him during night feeds. You will see the weight drop off slowly as your body adjusts to not carrying a baby.

If you continue to eat healthy meals all you have to do is cut back on the portions you eat. Make sure you include veggies, milk, and fruit. balance what you eat. The pounds will come off. Try to do a little more walking now also. No strenuous exercise is needed. It took you nine months to put it on . Make sure you lose it slowly so it won't come back. Crash diets take it off fast but it comes back on with more the second you stop the bad diet. Good Luck

give it time,if you just had the baby 3 weeks ago most docs say no exercise for at least 6 weeks and if you're breastfeeding you can not be dieting or limiting your intake...the pregnancy weight didn't go on i 3 weeks and it won't go away in 3 weeks

Breast feeding is meant to help.
Try taking the bub for a morning walk and then an afternoon work. When you get the ok you could try some classes or the gym. Just start easy.

You shouldn't do any kind of exercises until the doctor gives you the ok but after you get the ok the best is sit ups and walking. Walking you can do now and you can take the baby with you.

Breastfeed and instead of stoller, use carrier to carry baby. This will tone your body. I have a 3 week old too and it seem to be working for me. Good luck!
