why is that most people join the wrong side in a fight or merely say nothing? When people are being bullied, why is that majority of the people will either join in or say nothing. Hardly anyone stands up for the poor guy/girl getting bullied.

People act that way because it is the easier thing to do. The right thing to do is usually the harder thing to do, and in this case I think people are also scared of become the target of bullying themselves if they stand up for someone who is being bullied.

Could be a number of reasons:

-they don't like confrontations
-they don't want to get involved in someone else's conflict
-they don't want to have to choose sides if the people are both friends
-they think that the victim might be insulted at the implication that they need someone else to fight their battles
-they recognise that the bully has power over them too and they are afraid to intervene, i.e. it is better for them to join in

Because some people are afraid if they stand up to the bully they'll be next.

Fear is a very powerful emotion....and bullys know that.

Some people just don't want to get involved. But I'm not some people. If I feel that the bigger guy is wrong then I'll say the bigger guy is wrong even if no one agrees with me.
