OUCH! The physically therapy will help with circulation while the cast is on. And strengthening when it comes off. Eat alot of fresh veggies it helps speed up the healing process.

I HOPE YOU HAVE A SPEEDY RECOVERY!

Sorry about your arm. Now about your question Yes they can do Physical therapy with a cast on. Ive gone for several things. For ex. I broke my arm last year from lacrosse, they had to do surgery because the bone was like popping out of the skin........not fun. I was 14 when it happened now im 15. I had physical therapy a month after the surgery. All they will do is do some light arm exercises and as it get stronger and you are able to use it more they will start working it more and a little bit harder for you. Im going right now for my shoulder (surgery) and when im done they do electro magnetic treatment. This is when they put these pads on your injured area and they turn on the machine and it gives you like a statiky shocking treatment. It dosent it may make your muslces twitch but after its done it feels awsome. Hope all my info. Helps. Get better soon.

The PT is most likely to be used to keep the muscle mass under the arm. You will lose essentially all of that muscle if you don't go through PT. Last year I broke my arm. I only had the cast on 6 weeks, a month and a half, and I lost almost half of the muscle in that arm. I cant even imagine what 5 months will do. I hope that answers your question. Sorry about the injury.

Wow, sorry to hear about your injury. Sounds bad. It's possible that the physical therapy will involve making sure the muscles stay flexible and the circulation is good which will aid in healing. Let your doctor answer the specific questions you have. You have a right to ask and a right to answers. Follow your doctor's directions even if you experience pain during the healing process. It may take a while, but in the end you will maintain use of your arm. Good luck and hang in there.

They can't (shouldn't) do therapy with the cast on. They will do things with light weights, lift weights with your wrist. It will be easy to do, a little painful due to lack of movement, but it will get easier.
