In DNA replication:
1. Enzymes "unzip" the DNA molecule between the nitrogen base pairs.
2. More enzymes attach new nucleotides to the "unzipped" bases, matching adenine with thymine and cytosine with guanine.
3. Other enzymes fasten the sugars and phosphates of the new side of the DNA molecule together, making a new side of the DNA ladder.
4. Both new molecules wind up ... and you have two DNA molecules that are exactly like the original.
