I thought females were born with the inate ability and knowledge necessary to stroke the male ego.

It's his Achille's heel: stroke his ego, and it's like patting a dog on the head 80% of the time. Most men are driven by their egos. Most women are driven by their emotions. We could speculate why this seems to be so (nature vs. nurture), but it is mostly true.

The challenge for men is to learn to ignore their egos and develop their emotions, and it's vice versa for women.

I don;t know why this seems to be true usually. But it's why women are, in many ways, stronger than males. Males are simple: pat them on the head regularly, they';re most likely whipped, and they won't see the emotional hammer coming when you decide you'd prefer a different kind of dog (assuming you don't have an agressive, controlling male on your hands).

This will work 90% of the time. I just violated some male code by telling you this.

You cannot really go wrong when complimenting anyone, as long as there is even the slightest hint of truth to it. The ones that mean the most though are the ones that refer to something they take pride in. If it's his car, body, comic book collection, whatever it is he is proud of.

Men arent women you know. They will care less if you compliment his hair or his shoes. You have to tell him that is great at doing something. Never tell a guy that he looks pretty. Just compliment him on something he is good at...........I dunno.
