He didn't have it all day until he woke up from his nap around 5pm. I'm going to call his doctor tomorrow morning to see if we should bring him in...but was wondering if anyone knows if its serious. Also he is in a good mood as usual an does not have a temperature. Thanks!

Also I hate to admit it but he did fall off our bed but it was 3 days ago. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. It just scares me because its pronounced.

Wow Megan that sure was a helpful non answer. He did not fall off our bed technically he rolled off it and I was standing in the room with him but no I did not push him. What a horrible thing to say. I'm a new mom asking for help and I called the on-call doctor at my son's doctor for advice so until I hear back I wanted people's HELPFUL opinions. You are a cruel person!!!

I just wanted everyone to know that we took him to the ER last night after we heard back from his doctor who advised us it was better safe than sorry because he couldn't tell us over the phone what it was. The ER doctor examined him and did a cat scan which was normal and showed no concussion. He does have a Hematoma but that should go away on its own in 3-5 days. I am glad I went even though my husband knew it was nothing serious. Thanks for all your advice.

Its likely to be nothing serious if your child is well, but you are doing the right think by getting it checked out by your local doctor. That way they can check it our thoroughly, whereas with your description on this web page, there is not enough info to give anymore advice.
Best wishes

If a child's soft spot is swollen and feels spongy there is only one solution..Take him to the ER NOW! Soft spots should be just that soft, not swollen not spongy. When my daughter was tiny after a car accident hers swelled and it was the result of a bleed in the brain. Her case is extreme but you really shouldn't even question as to if its serious get off your duff and go now. and if your saying he fell off the bed, which happens it could be the result of a brain injury more then likely a subdural hematoma {which is what my daughter had} go to the er. Stop editing your question

Infants are born with TWO not one soft spot. Check it out:

Slightly puffy usually just means very well hydrated. But of course it wouldn't hurt to check it out.

Is there a health line you can call? Sometimes insurance companies offer a nurse line or your doctor should have an after hours number if you are concerned

I'd definatley take him to the doctor. I'm not sure what it means if it's swollen- if it's sunken in, they are dehydrated. I hope it turns out to be nothing and he's fine!

Dont touch it, and call your doctor. If he seems the same as usual its probably nothing. (mom of 5 babies) ;)

Don't probe it and get him examined ASAP. Slight possibility of cranial trauma.

P.S. GO TO THE ER AND STOP ARGUING WITH MEGAN. GO GO GO. ASAP means AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

what a wonderful parent asking strangers about an OBVIOUS injury from falling instead of taking your baby to a hospital or a doctor.

sounds like your guilty to me. sure he fell?
