In terms of where the future of gaming is headed, well there are a few hundred different schools of thought on the future. Everything is up in the air (to begin with) until a standard for high definition data encryption is established. Sony would have it be the blu-ray, but microsoft is backing the hd-dvd.

The significance behind this??? Google "betamax", and you'll see what I'm talking about. Either standard, however, offer different storage formats to allow for larger game files to be created (better graphics, more content, etc).

I think the future of gaming is online. I have llong thought the future of gaming is online... purchasing game licenses and then downloading relevant content from online...

For example you'd buy the rights to play NBA Live 07 from a store like Best Buy, for the Xbox 360 and then log onto your system's online capibility and download the current "game" content, etc...

Already, Microsoft is doing this with it's xbox-live service to some extent. And, both Nintendo (virtual console) and Sony (playstation) are trying to get online and in synch with this type of capibility... With broadband becoming much cheaper, and cost effective in most cases, it's going to be the wave of the future of video gaming.

Computer games are played on any computer that can meet the game's requirement which are usually OS version, CPU & GPU speed, Memory and Disk Space. One thing is sure though, there will be faster CPUs & GPUs, more and faster RAM(memory) and bigger and faster storage devices.(DVDs, cartriges or Hard drives)
