1. I think in a negative fashion. My spouse when he was drinking was depressed, would be sick & vomiting, would start fights although he is normally a peaceful person. It obviously also can cause disorentiation and blackouts, one time he was out walking the dog and went to the wrong house and tried to get in thinking it was our house (it turned out to be the girlfriend of one of his friends!). He scared the heck out of her!
2. A close family member is an alcoholic and was told his liver would be ruined if he drank any more so physical health can be affected by alcohol. But mental health also. Your relationships and job(s) suffer and most alcoholics seem to be divorced.
3. AA is a great program. My family member and dh have been in AA and have been sober for a long time. My dh, has been sober for 17 years now.
4. depressant.

1. Depending upon your frame of mind at the time, alcohol can enhance a good mood or make worse a bad mood. It seems to heighten what ever mood you're in and can sometimes change you from happy to belligerent.
2. Aside from dependency, it can destroy your liver, pancreas, stomach and brain cells.
3. Any reputable hospital can direct you where to seek treatment. Some have treatment facilities of their own.
4. Alcohol is classified as a depressant.

1. Well quite frankly it makes you feel good. Most people drink alcohol to feel better. It makes most people feel relaxed, happy, and energetic (unless you dont react well with alcohol..)
2. Alcohol can cause mild to serious liver damage and can lead to liver cirrhosis (healthy tissue replaced with scar tissue). It affects the central nervous system negatively by changing the normal amounts of neurotransmitters in your brain and can also cause alcohol dementia and personality changes. It can cause ulcers to form in your stomach as well as pancreatic damage.
3. There are a variety of places to get help for substance abuse problems. However abstinence based treatment centers like the Betty Ford clinic have the highest success rate of treatment combined with continued Alcoholics Annoynmous attendence.
4. Alcohol is a stimulant in low to moderate doses (it makes you feel good to take it. its a stimulant) . However in higher doses alcohol is indeed a depressant.

Alcohol is a downer or depressant, so it affects your mood by brining you down. If you consume to much alcohol you can suffer liver failure, which could result in your death. If you had a substance abuse problem you could go to professional, such as a counselor or you could go to group meetings (AA) to discuss your problem with other people who suffer from the same addiction.
