I am assuming you are not in Juneau. Juneau is not a big enough place to require a lot of A class drivers.

You'd probably be better off looking for work in the interior, perhaps with the pipeline or the oil fields up north. It sounds like the new natural gas pipeline efforts have stalled, but I would keep my ears open for that because if that goes through, there will be a huge demand for long-haul drivers.

At any rate, I would suggest calling the Alaska Job Center in Juneau (if you are not from Alaska, the state operates a series of job centers where people can go to find work and employers can list job openings). Here is the web site that has the job centers throughout the state of Alaska (Juneau Job center has its own website which you can find off of this page):

http://www.jobs.state.ak.us/offices/index.html

Shoot the job centers an email or give them a call.

Like I said, Juneau is small and it is land locked so pretty much any work would be local and not involve A Class vehicles. I wouldn't pin my hope on finding a driving job there.

Some other options you might have:

1. Everything in Juneau comes in on a barge in shipping containers. The name of the company who operates the ship escapes me right now. This stuff needs to be moved throughout the city and my guess that means trucks. If you want to find out the company who runs the boat, the dock is located by DIPAC (fish hatchery) and the Juneau Empire (the local newspaper). You could probably call either one of them and ask.

2. Many of the Native Corporations in Alaska have their hands in the timber trade (or at least used to...I'm not up on it anymore). When you call the Job Center, ask them if any of the Native Corporations are still cutting timber (again, timber may mean trucks).

I'm not surewho the players in the Juneau area are anymore. I think the Juneau Native Corporation is called Gold Coast. This probably won't get you anywhere as these corporation will probably hire tribal first, but it is worth a shot.

Good Luck
