Double yellows are there for a reason,normally to ease the flow of traffic at narrow points by not allowing anyone to stop.However most councils earn a lot of money from ticketing people by over zealous nazi wardens.If there is space to allow parking for short periods (single yellows) then there should be more areas to to park.Councils could charge for parking instead but what do I know Bring on the revolution!

On highways employer roads then police and site visitors wardens. If everyone seems to be parking on double yellows then they need to be towed no longer ticketed. A uniform isn't mandatory.

most double yellows are there for safety reasons - so you don't park somewhere where you're causing an obstruction for example
