What do people gain from impersonating someone else? Can someone do it and just be "messing with people" or is there a deeper reason why they have to pretend they are someone they are not? Anyone have psychological insight to offer?

well I use a fake profile on here so if I disagree with someone , and they are a stalker freak. it makes it harder for them to hunt me down and kill me.
