Hello. I have been debating what profession to get into, and I am leaning heavily toward Pharmacy. I am wondering how challenging the Pre- Pharmacy/ Pharmacy school classes are. Obviously they are to some extent, but are they extremely difficult to the point where all you can do with your time is study? Thank you!

It really depends on the person. In general, I wouldn't say it takes up all your time. You'll be busy, but you do have time to have fun.

Pharmacy schools typically require very similar classes to what med schools require. So, you're competing with many of the same people in the same classes. In that sense, it can be hard and might take a lot of time to study. A lot of that is how quickly you pick up the information and how competitive your school is.

Pharmacy school itself still takes a lot of work, but you do have time to do other stuff. I visited my wife a lot when she was in pharmacy school. They had parties every now and then and we had time to do stuff (altho most of our time was just spent studying together). You do have most of the weekends free if you keep up during the week.

A career in pharmacy is becoming one of the most sought jobs in the country. However, it is one of the most difficult to obtain. As for your pre-pharmacy classes, they will be just like any of the other pre-professional courses(medical, dental, etc.). There will be lots of math, biology, chemistry, with the most challenging being probably organic chemistry. My friend is a fourth year pharmacy student at Ole Miss, and once you get to your 4-6th years, it gets VERY difficult, not to mention pharmacy schools average level of acceptance is only 25%. It would be worth it though. Good Luck!

The classes you have to take are hard science courses. There are times which you have no free time. They are challenging.
The people who you compete with in your prePharm courses are generally preMeds, fellow prePharms, preDents, etc.
