Many Many dishes made with corn like, thick tortillas (very different from mexican style), tamales, chipilines (similiar to a tamale but with the plant chipilin mixed in), various soups etc and even a yummy hot sweet corn drink called Atol.
They also east a LOT of eggs (scrambled, in omelets, fried, chopped etc).
Beans of course, mainly black beans in dishes such as Frijoles ****** Volteados (Fried Black Bean Paste).
Guatemala has many wonderful fresh fruits, plantains being the most popular served, raw, fried, stuffed etc and then, papayas, pineapple, mango, melons, tunas, oranges, some apples, lichees, and more!
Rice and Guacamole are very popular and chicken is the most popular meat. Chiles Rellenos (Stuffed Peppers), Pepian (a chicken and sauce dish), Caldo de Res (Soup with beef), Corn with salt and lime on it...
For sweets they eat Pastel de banano (like banana bread), Atol, Rice pudding, fried fruits (at festivals you can get chocolate dipped fruits!
