A Race Night is an excellent fundraiser.
You hire a film for the evening and everyone places bets on each race. The odds are obviously worked out in your favour. It's a great night out too, especially if you can organise a bar.

A benefit concert, or a benefit play, in which the participants charge nothing, and it is held in a hall that is loaned for free as well. So all the income from tickets goes to the cause.

Charity car wash is usually good for raising money especially if you can set up in a busy place i.e. main route into town.
A disco is another one.
