I just heard on CNN that the plan is for US troops and Iraqi police and army to be stationed together in neighborhoods in Baghdad, and that the troops will be under an Iraqi commander.
Why aren't the rightwingers screaming about this plan to put US troops under the command of IRAQI OFFICERS?

You really believe what you hear on CNN? I guess, I might be considered a "Right Winger" a Judge once refered to me as a "Right Wing KOOK" .. a judge even! Can you believe that?
Are not Judges supposed to be neutral? The troops don't like it!
We were under British command in North Africa! We were under UN command in Korea, I think? We had US military advisors in VN, but think American troops were under US command!
Bosnia? I think that was a UN deal? Somalia (Black Hawk Down)
was a UN, deal I am sure? I don't think so, our troops are the best trained in the world, why would we ever allow foriegn commanders, to say, who lives or dies? Who rides point!
I will follow up on this one, but think it is just CNN making waves!

If true, it would be a good "gesture" on the part of the US. We say we want to set up an Iraqi government in our own image. Then if we are doing that, then we should be able to trust their command.
It's put up, or shut up time. If we don't trust them, then they are right not to trust us.
It's as simple as that.
And besides, we started this all anyway.

I think there is a mistake somewhere here. It would be illegal for American troops to be deployed under another country's flag.
