the problem lies with themselves? I mean I've owned imports, domestics, trucks, vans, station wagons, luxury, economy, oddball cars (AMC Pacer for example) and motorcycles also. I will admit I'm a more of a 'car care' person than the average but I find so often that the people bashing a vehicle or brand did little or no PM (if you don't know what PM is you didn't do it). And in closing how many folks ACTUALLY check their tire pressure monthly as recommended? That and regular oil changes alone would end a lot of the car p*ssing and moaning. OK, thanks car type folks!!!!!

You're absolutely correct. People have started using 'lemon' as a very generic term these days. In reality, it's a pretty specific term that only applies to new, not used cars, and only under very specific terms.

Although the rules vary by state, generally it must be the same defect occurring, occuring during the warrenty period, and you must give the dealer a certain number of times to fix it correctly, often at least three times, before a car is considered a lemon.

I have one in the shop now that the owner is complaining he obviously bought a lemon...it's 14 years old, and the heads are warped, but he never got it hot, it's just a lemon.

Another that is seized up, but the oil is brand new. It's very obvious he ran it out of oil, blew the engine, and then put in new oil in the hopes it would somehow miraculously cure the problems.

Check air pressure? How about occasionally checking the oil or water?

The fact is about a Lemon Car or Truck is, If you have a vehicle that's been in the shop 2 times for a safety issue as with the ABS or Air Bag light on or if its been in the shop 4 times for the same problem and with both are still having problems then you may have what is considered a Lemon by Law and may be entitled to a full buy back or replacement. You should read the book "Lemon Protection Identifying a Lemon" you can find on lemonprotection.com. Good luck and GOD Bless

Remember the days when one did not have to check everything once a month? Remember when one could get into a fender bender and it would not total a car (or truck).
Cars and trucks by far are made much cheaper these days. This is what these new cars are fighting against is the memory of REAL cars and trucks. Not these cheap bucket of bolts that are out now.
Then there are the kids who do not remember what a real car or truck is. They think all cars and trucks were made so cheaply. These people I feel are the people who do not complain so much, they know no better!

i agree my first car was a 91 buick regal i got it in 97 and kept it until last year. it only had 100,000 miles when i got it last year i was in a car accident and they totaled it out thanks to some dummy rear ending me, but it had alittle over 200,000 when it was recked. but i kept the oil and everything changed good. and if anything seemed strange if it made any noises i would take it to the shop because my car was always quiet but now i drive a 98 buick park ave ultra its a nice car but i did have to have the super charger changed on it cause it wasnt working like it should and i the top mount was broke so far its been a good car but im afraid the person that had it before me was hard on it. but ive had it 6 months now and everything seems fine. i am a buick person i guess you could say

Regular 'preventative maintenance' is the key to the mechanical health in any motor vehicle...oil changes, checking fluid levels, flushing coolant on a recommended schedule, tire pressure...all those things and more. It is what keeps my Subaru Justy on the road for the number of miles I have to drive these day, and I do not have any unexpected surprises I might have if I did not maintain it properly.

I agree somewhat. But there are people who have bought cars and had problems with it that were beyond there control, such as electrical problems.

I agree with your view in this matter, but a Pacer? Jeeze, you could have at least bought a Javelin.
