Okay, so I am now considered a high risk pregnancy. I am on "Pelvic rest". Not allowed to run, jump, carry anything, life my arms, or have sex...however my midwife nor my doctors said anything about masterbation. I'm in this faze (or something) where my body is screaming for release, but I don't know how to get it. And I'm too shy to ask my midwife.

Also normaly I use a stimulator (on Not in) when I masterbate, and I don't know if that would be okay or not. Please tell me what you think!

You may be shy but that question really needs to be discussed with your midwife since your pregnancy is high risk you don't want to do anything that you are not supposed to.

Yes, it could increase your risk for postpartum depression, but the main concern is your stress levels sucking up your b vitamins, which your baby needs. I have had the same problem for my whole pregnancy, and I also have a history of depression and anxiety (6 years of self-injury and panic attacks). Everyone I talked to said that it was VERY IMPORTANT that I let my doctor know how I was feeling. Your doctor should be informed about this, and MAKE SURE that he understands that you don't think it is just hormones - it is depression. The only way to get help is to ask for it and not take "no" for an answer. He might try to brush you off ad say "it's just hormones" - but you know your feelings better than ANYONE! Ask your doctor!

I would say that it could be harmful if you orgasm, that's probably why you can't have sex. It really depends upon the reasons for your "pelvic rest" but it sounds like it wouldn't be a good idea for you to seek your "release", sorry. I hope you can get up the nerve to ask your mid-wife though, believe me, she's probably heard a lot worse than this! Good Luck and congrats on your pregnancy.

Are you high risk pregnancy b/c you're at risk for preterm labor??? If so then any type of release is forbidden...b/c orgasm makes the uterine muscles contract and so does nipple stimulation ...the doc says no sex so that means no orgasm as well. Ask them just to be sure but in advance I'm sorry for ya...

If they told you no sex that's what they mean. Your on 'pelvic rest' and an orgasm with our without a man's part will stimulate your uterus. It can cause tightening of the uterus and contractions.

I'd place an annon call to your midwife if you are screaming for release.

You HAVE to ask your midwife or a doctor. They should have been more clear. The uterine contractions that come with orgasm may be a problem, but only your doctor can tell you for sure.

If you are not allowed sex then you really shouldn't masterbate because orgasm can cause contractions that will put you in labor.

avoid anything that could affect your pregnancy; nine months abstinence is not too big sacrifice to make to secure a baby.

an orgasm causes the uterus to contract and your cervix to open and close momentarily, probably not a good idea.
