I don't think there should be a cutoff age. But I think that once you reach the age of 70 or so, you should be required to be retested every other year.

First of all, WAIT until YOU are old ... then reflect on the fact that you asked this question!
I say this (and yes, I am a retiree) ...
I am alert, a safe driver, have taken the safety courses, and have not had an accident in decades ... and yes, I also take my motorcycle out for a spin STILL every now and then ...
So I intend to drive STILL for a long, long time.

I don't think age is a factor. If you're a sucky driver you shouldn't have a license at all. Unfortunately there are way to many idiots on the road.

It totally depends on the driver. Some people are still sharp as tacks in their 90's. My mom is 70 and probably shouldn't drive anymore.

In California, when you turn 77 you are required to take a driving test and a written test. My mother-in-law passed the written, but not the driving. DMV has become pretty strict with elderly drivers and I for one am glad.....
