They are legal already in Massachusetts (where I live) and a few enlightened countries around the world. Amazingly, the sky has yet to fall down and straight people are still allowed to vote.
An interesting thing to note is that divorce rates are consistently higher among religious people than they are amongst secular folks, even though religious people are the ones who always bang on about how marriage needs saving.

In the US? no way in hell. I wish so, but you'll have to wait at least 15-20 years before gay marriage is that widely accepted. Gay marriage may not even be accepted by then, but civil unions are already accepted by a majority of people and will probably have a chance of being enacted in half a decade's time or so.

I hope so! Love is love no matter what gender you are. But no matter how much I wish it were, I don't think it will be legalized by 2009.. people are just too critical when it comes to same sex marriage and stuff.

I do not agree with same sex marriages, because of the way I was raised, but also I do not think the government should be able to tell a "free" being who he or she can or can not marry! Same sex marriages goes against what my Church teaches, but I am not so ignorant that I can not see the beauty in love. You can not help who you fall in love with, and the government should not be able to tell you who. I hope that one day it can be!

hopefully by 2020 it will be legal in all states because people are becoming more and more accepting of different people and people are more tolerant about homosexuality with exeptions of certain individuals

I'm not gay, but I think it's wrong that they're not allowed to get married. Gays are not any less human!
