Nothing LANDED in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947 (Roswell is in the USA, not Mexico). An unidentified flying object apparently crashed there in 1947. Was it a flying saucer from outer space? That is the question.

When I was a teen I met an older young man who told me he had served in the US Air Force. One Saturday night he was alone in barricks because he had spent all his money the weekend before. A general and his staff walked in on him. The general demanded to know why he was still on base. He replied that he was out of money. "Then," replied the general, "I'm going to put you to work. Get dressed and meet me in five minutes."

The general met the airman at a certain hanger. According to the man who told me the story this was Wright Field before it became known as Wright-Patterson. The general gave the airman a loaded .45 Automatic and instructed him to 'shoot to kill anything that tried to leave or enter the hanger' and to remain on post until relieved. NOTE: during peace time it is extremely rare for a guard to be issued a loaded weapon. Note also that his instructions were to 'shoot to kill anything, not anyone' that tried to leave or enter the hanger.

Around four in the morning the airman couldn't stand the suspense anymore and he peeked inside the hanger. Here he told me he had never told anyone else about what he saw. He described a crashed flying saucer. I asked him to describe it to me and he said, "It looked like the flying saucers you see in the pictures, but it was crashed on one side." He said he became frightened, closed up the hanger and never told anyone about what he had seen until relating the story to me that evening.

I've never forgotten his story. I don't think he had any reason to lie about this.

It's actually Roswell, NEW Mexico. NM is part of the United States whereas Mexico is a whole other country. There have been speculations about the landing and some people wholeheartedly believe it and others think its foolish. Either way Roswell is very into the whole alien/UFO thing. It was their only claim to fame. And whether it happened or not, people still go to visit Roswell.

Nothing. It all started with a 1957 movie that gave the infamous idea of a ufo, and then the other movies like Independence Day gave the idea of that since everyone believed there was a UFO. It is all of course another urban legend.

The origianal story was that it was a UFO that crashed. Then the story was changed. IMO the original story was the truth and the second story was the cover up. There are many credible people who have reported sightings and incidents with UFOs. I think it's foolish not to realize that we aren't alone.

Probably some alien space craft from a civilization way more devoloped then us. They haven't been able to send anything else since then because it takes them many years to get here and they might not want to send any more after losing lives on the last exploration mission probably without getting any idea of whats on this planet.

No, but their families did. The manufacturer argued that the pilots flew the object beyond recommended safety specs, and tried to drag out the process, but justice was swift and granted the mourning family members over 240 million zbljifs in forced settlement. Caught the news a few years ago over my tin foil hat.
