Also, you can do it with Remote Assistance, if you are both using the same OS and Windows Live Messenger.
By the way, that's the only reason I have WLM on my machine, so I can help my friends, who live in different states, as well as different countries, when they have problems..

I recomend LogMeIn.com . You have to install something on your son's computer and you can take control of it anytime it is on. You can access his computer via any internet connected computer.
