The nervous system does not function without the brain. The computer does not function without its "brain" (i.e. CPU).
The nervous system is one of many systems found in a body, while a computer is essentially a complete system (CPU, memory, I/O).

Okay, a comparison of flesh to Silicon.
The human nervous system is comprised "Basically" of the Brain, the spinal cord, and nerves.
Nerves transmit data to the brain thru the spinal cord the brain processes the info recvd and reacts with an action.
The Computer system is comprised of the CPU, Data transfer bus, and peripherals.
Input peripherals (mouse/keyboard/etc) transmit data along the Data bus to the CPU which then processes the data and reacts with a visible action on a display.

The human nervous system is designed specifically to fit humans and so, in effect everything that isn’t human has a different nervous system, even human nervous systems are different from eachother based on height and so on.

The nervous system protects us from harm, wheather something is hot cold or when we are sick. A computer doesn't know when its sick it just stops working properly. Take care Heather
