Dell, Apple

Several on here have recommended Dell as a good computer. That shows what TV marketing can do. Dell has the worst Tech Support in the world. They have out sourced their support to India and you cannot get a person that speaks English to help you. ALL computers have basically identical hardware with the exception of Apple which has superior hardware. The best Tech Support is either HP or IBM.

i'd still go with a dell, even though i've had a little trouble from tech support when i knew more than they do.

it is true that you want to buy it from a reputable dealer that is going to be in business if you need to bring it in. but maybe you want in-house hardware support because you don't think you can bring it in and pick it up yourself. in which case, buy an extended hardware warranty that is for in-house service. if you spend $$$ for this service, do not let some lame-brain overseas talk you into opening your computer and taking cards in and out. get the techs to come to you since that is what you paid for.

but remember this: hardware service is all it describes. if you have a problem with a program such as yahoo email, dell or any hardware seller is not going to fix it because that is software support. programs are software. make sure you register all your software and tell them if you change email addresses.

Buy a Dell through payment plans. They offer many different options with all sorts of accessories in all ranges of pyment plans.
Plus, they're excellent computers.

If you're like me, when you decide to buy a new puter, you want it now, and you want to buy it from someplace you can take it back to if you should have a problem..
I would, therefore, suggest, Best Buy, Circuit City, Office Depot, and even, WalMart.. although, WM, is very last, in my opinion. I prefer to deal with people who are knowledgeable about what they sell, and WM doesn't quite make it.
