i think the best poker players are those who entertain me just by seeing them PLAY, and some of them are among the best in the world: Hansen, Scotty Ngyen (sp?), Matisow (and drumroll, please?) Dan Negreanu! he's done about everything but win the main event, and may never do so due to the huge entry field.
Gold, IMHO, was far luckier than any of the recent WSOP winners. find me in the play money sit & goes @ pokerstars. promomows!

Tobey Maguire is the best Pro Poker player ever. He can play poker better than any amateur, professional, and expert pro poker player. I hope he will enter this year's World Series of Poker Tournament (WSOP).
