how do i change that?.. how do i act happy, even when i am not?

before you answer.. dont say, see a therapist, or get medication.

im looking for things i can do to just be happier or give off that impression

Stand straight. Square your shoulders. Hold your head up and lift your chin. Give an upward curve to your mouth...not a smile exactly but make sure you are not pouting. Lift your eyebrows slightly and raise your chin. You will look confident and in command if not happy.

Smile alot, practice smiling even when no one is around. Sounds crazy, but it can actually improve your mood and trick your brain into thinking your happy! And of course, get you into a good habit.

Also, I would become aware of "self-talk" and what are you saying to yourself without realizing it? We all have these "tapes" that play in our heads without even realizing it. Your own thoughts could be sabatoging you.

But you can practice saying more positive things to yourself and start believing those instead. It takes time to break old habits, but the first thing I would do is tell yourself those people are wrong. Dont let them tell you who you are.

If you truly want to make a change within yourself your just going to have to do it. Don't make this hard. Do things that make you happy and be cheerful. Eventuly you will come out of your slump and start feeling the way you are acting. Why would you want to live life unhappy? Make a consience choice to do it and be done with it. End of story. Try to relax and just be yourself. Take it step by step. Don't try to force yourself to smile or anything. Just do things you enjoy with people you like and just be comfortable. Realise that there are good things in life that deserve your attention. We can't all be happy all the time, of course, but when it comes to you, accept it with a smile and don't push it away.
