Is China the future?

To me it seems meaningless bickering over the iraq war and all american politics. Everyone knows that China will dominate the future. They will have an economy, manpower (population) and technology unlike any other in history. And to top it all off, communism works over there because it's in chinese culture to help the community, not the individual. That means if there ever was another war in the future it would be between the us and china. Should we start learning chinese?

I'm laughing at the latter part of your answer. I'm half-Chinese, and my mom has told me some stories about the Chinese mentality. Historically, China has never started a war, (Genghis Khan doesn't count - He's Manchu). But then again, they're new government and country is so volatile--it's hard to tell.

But the Chinese aren't very generous with the community; in fact, they are very selfish and desperate when it comes to money. Forget about helping each other out!

Also, we have a lot of businesses here that sell things to China, and as their economy grows, it's safe to assume that it'll pull ours up too. Don't know about you, but I already speak the language. : )

OMG, I hope we don't go to war with China. America needs to stop being so belligerant. It won't work to act like colonialists in global world and economy. Yes, the 21st century is the Chinese century. We need to develope an economy on new technology that isn't dependent on oil as energy. We are going to become more of a 'plantation' system. Where those at the top 10% make more and more money and the rest of us make enough to get by. It's already happening. The top 10% in this country own 70% of the wealth. This isn't my statistic or a liberal's, it's from the feds. Look it up if you don't believe me.

It's possible. The inscrutable Oriental mind. They just let us go on thinking they are friendly towards us as they lull us into a state of denial. We keep thinking they don't have the weapons or the desire to take us on etc. What a joke on us! As I have said before, with over 1 billion people & counting, limited land mass & more than a million babies born a year, something has to give. They will need more land. Any country ready to give it to them? Taiwan won't do it. So where do they go from there? Maybe Russia? Now there is a land near them, lots of land & not too many people. They really have no defense that China could not defeat. But then the Russian people fight like crazy, so maybe not Russia. Well, who does that leave? The U.S., well maybe. But if it is the U.S., get ready to kiss each other goodbye cause there won't be much left of the world that anyone could live through.

Currently China owns much of our federal debt.
