Just part of football and job promotion, people moving up to bigger challenges and pay. The Steelers cant afford (its not that they wont, the did pay to keep Hines Ward to my surprise) to pay all their staff and players like a lot of teams so they have a harder time holding on to people. But the ones that do stay are good loyal people, which is what football use to be and should be but most of the players are only in it for the money not the love of the game, after a point the money becomes more than you can spend in your life anyway. Thats why you don't see many big name players brought into the team, except good people like Jerome Bettis, almost all of the stars on the team were drafted and sadly many of them go to other teams to get more $$ and still the Steelers consistanly contend most every year (excluding near death experiences), not many other teams can say that. That is why I love the Steelers and am looking forward to only knowing the 3rd head coach of my team since I have been alive(some teams go through that many in less than a couple of years). Steeler loyalty!!!!! Which is also why I am rooting for the Colts in the bowl, Tony Dungy, another great Steeler talent!

well, i wouldn't look at it as a sinking ship, they finished at .500 this year and with all the **** going on, who could blame them. as far as why the coaches are leaving, it's very simple, whisenhunt wanted a promotion that he wasn't getting in pittsburgh, cowher wanted money that he wasn't getting in pittsburgh, and grimm thought he was gonna get the job when whisenhunt didn't. it's all about the money and the steelers just won't pay, good news is lebeau is still there, and there is still a great core of players, i think the steelers will be alright next year.

Because whenever a new head coach comes in, they usually make a few changes in personnel to bring in some of their own people. Also, several of the Steeler assistants were up for coaching jobs elsewhere & Dick Hoak retired after 40+ yrs. in football.

It's the NFL stock market..buy low sell high. If you join a coaching staff when you think a team is under-achieving you look like a genius when their record gets better. Conversely, whoever is running the show when the team goes downhill due to age, retirement, free agency, etc. winds up getting blamed for their poor record and fired.

Also Mark Whipple left too( Ben's coach)...I don't think they like what stinks in Pittsburgh, and no I don't mean the metal furnaces. I think the new coach is not what the team minus the owners wanted, I am not sure I do either.
