We aren't other countries. Americans tend to act like spoiled children, and we wouldn't tolerate any reasonable single-payor system. You hinted at the answer yourself in calling it "free," when it is a 2 trillion dollar business. If you think that way, you'll overuse services. An example: what did you take when you last had a cold? The sensible thing is not to take drugs for a cold, but it's impossible to convince people of that. Also, we like to be "fair," and that makes any proposed system impossible. We could have a health czar decree what care we'd get on the government program, and if you wanted more you could pay for it, but that would be politically impossible to get through Congress. So why do you think we ALL want to be on your Medicaid program?

The simple answer is that to many people are already in the health care industry and related markets .
What happens to all the premiums collected by insurance companies .The jobs of the people administering all that money and making people fill out 90 pages of information before they pay a single penny meanwhile raising your premium enough to cover the costs incurred .
In order to prevent a single penny from being wasted they will spend a billion on loss prevention and attorneys to keep people from collecting . If yo can jump through all the hoops needed to collect 70% of what you paid in to cover a claim you must really need it .

First of all, such spending would be unconstitutional
Second, there is no constitutional authority for the government to control so much of the economy - the health care business is something like 10-15% of the economy.
Third, after viewing big government competence and efficiency in response to Katrina, why would anybody consider giving government control over their health care? Does that even make sense?

Because we don't want to go backwards in the care we receive. All the rich people from those socialized medicine countries come here for treatment, that should tell you something.
And the trouble you are having with medicare, imagine that multiplied by a thousand because everyone in the nation would be on it.

It won't lose the government some money, if completed incorrectly it may value the government a-lot of money, extraordinarily whether that's a unfastened wellbeing care device. Taxes could extraordinarily much surely could desire to upward push to pay for the coverage (because of the fact there could be no incentive for inner maximum companies to grant medical wellbeing coverage). additionally with the U.S. at record deficits, the flair huge value of the wellbeing application could be huge. yet another argument against unfastened wellbeing care could desire to be that the wellbeing care device could be very ineffective as though it grow to be stored at low-value it may desire to reason long waits and sub-customary care. whether it grow to be a central authority mandated application there could desire to be ethical risk that would enable those with preexisting situations to get coated, on a similar time as no longer paying into the plan, which may well be damaging to those who have been healthy and coated with coverage.

Insurance lobbies, pharmaceutical lobbies, HMO lobbies, and other business lobbies based in the health industry. Lots of our money and tax money goes to make those industries rich while less and less people are covered in the U.S. It's not a free market economy when our politicians are bought and paid for by these lobbies. And, many of our citizens go to Canada for medical treatment and pharmaceuticals because it is a good system and much cheaper. And, many others go to Mexico for meds because it is alot cheaper for American pharmecueticals there.

There is free health care in my area. If you meet income levels your health care is free. If you are just above the level for free care you get a pro-rated cost.
Try searching for the partnership for prescription assistance, they help people that cannot afford their med.
You can also contact the maker of the drug and they have programs to help.
Also talk to your doctor. They can get samples from their reps

Yeah you think Cuba has it good in their socialist utopia? Dream on. Look at that link when you get the time. Universal heatlh care is a pipe dream, pure and simple. And wanting MORE gov't control in anything is a fool's mission. It's like begging to further the nanny state. No good.
