ummmmm

i think that if it is a cute , short , and not - formal, silver dress it would go gr8 with a deep purplehttp://www.dogedesigns.com/sweaters/yarn_purple_dark.JPG or nawt a shawl at all... cause if it sorta short and cute... it would b more flirty without a shawl....... like Jennifer http://www.justjared.com/images/2006/06/jennifer-aniston-silver-dress.jpg

if the dress is a classic and formal then a black would be more classy... expescially at a dinner party... or may b a navy blue

id go with either silver or black. too matchy is bad, but not matching at all is worse. even if you chose purple and wore purple jewlery, but then your shoes may not match. try it on and see how it looks, get advise from someone looking at it all together. someone you trust to be honest.

navy blue would probably look good with the silver dress and black purse.

pink or lavendar? depending on the material of the shawl.

also a cute black bolero would work, or a black short sleeve jacket (love those!)

Silver and black...I would say burgandy or navy blue would look nice.

But if you use black, you can wear it again at a later date.
