i really think its because there's not much else to say at times. Your typical high and bye, how have you been, are sometimes not enough. Some people want to show courtesy too.

Its true though, getting to the point is better and whats funny is that the other person ALWAYS knows there's something behind the small talk haha.

Small talk... is it stupid, or does it feel more uncomfortable when there is complete silence. I carpool an hour 2 days a week with a guy i work with, there are days where we talk, and then others where its just the radio. Really depends on ones mood, and if they find anything interesting about the person, and if you are a boring person, then all the small talk will be the same ol **** different day stuff. If your constantly doing new things, then, small talk is great. I wish i could say i stopped going to church for such a small reason. I think my 401K likes the 10% put into it, rather than the lil round offering plate. I'll enjoy my time in hell when im dead,. but I'm gonna live happy and rich when i get old and retire. ;o) Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ;o)

I totally see you point of view,

But dont isolate yourself because of you hate idle blabber, coz honestly I have gotten to know alot of extraordinary folks from small talk.
When I resigned from my last job (retail) another Manager from another store (whom I always talked to, just because) offered me a job, should I not like my new job! ;)

Plus, I have also skated and chatted with a billionaire heir without knowing! :)

I don't mean to preach to you, but small talk actually helpS you in terms of networking and your people skills! :)

The art of conversation is obvioiusly lost on you. I suggest your anti-social behavior is more deeply routed than just disliking small talk. I suspect you have serious self-esteem issues.

A good psycotherapist could help.

Good for you!! Why are you interacting with all of these total strangers on line, who have a lot of trivial things so say? Just curious

No, I do not "hate" socializing with people

Maybe it's just that nobody finds you interesting.
