I have only been with my boyfriend for a few days now. My family has a couple of problems. My mom drinks alot and used to be on drugs. I'm not too sure if I should tell him what's going on in my family. It's not that I don't trust him, I do. I just, I'm afraid that if I tell him, that he won't look at me the same anymore and think different of me. Any suggstions, please?

hey! be honest since the first day! If your mom has issues, that shouldn't be involve in your relationship, besides if boyfriend loves u for real, he won't care anything except for u. I tell u this because my mom is good at being hipocrite in front of my boyfriend, but that doesn't ruin my relationship with my honey, he just hates her, and loves me, and doesn't care about what she has to say. So tell him, remember if he loves you, he'll care about u, don't wait to long 'cause he's gonna feel like you lied to him, ok? good luck

There is a time and place for everything. You mentioned only being with your boyfriend for a few days now, but how long have you actually known him? I do think that someone close to you can be a great support and friend through the types of issues you have experienced with your family, but depending on the level of trust and commitment in the relationship, it might be a bit much to absorb if its not delivered correctly. I always think one should be honest and not ashamed of their challenges, and if the person you care for doesn't accept those challenges and support you in spirit for your strength, they probably aren't the person for you.
So I guess my true answer is: Decide on the timing of when to tell him. Probably before or after he meets the family, depending on what the circumstances are...then he has some history to apply to the interactions.

OK You have only dated for a few days but how long have you known each other ? Is he someone you would trust not to say things about you ? Will you even get serious enough to take him home to meet your parents ? If he loves you it shouldn't change the way he looks at you or thinks about you. If he loves you he will be there for you. If you think he will treat you different then he may not even be worth dating... think about it long before you trust someone fully. Good luck & I hope he's the one for you ( If you want him to be)

Well you have to tell him before you bring him over and your family embarrasses you. Just let him from the jump about your mom I had a bf who let me know his mom had a problem and it made the situation a lot easier you know instead of springing it on him he may not be ready for it.

u have to decide if u think he is mature enough to handle that information or not, if he's mature he will try to help u, try to make sure no unwanted influence is rubbing off on you, if he's not then he will talk down to u and look at u in a different way, also u can use this situation as a deciding factor as to u should be with this guy or not, from how he handles the situation..........

far to early to be telling him. Let him spend time getting to know you as you are the one he is interested in after all not your family. My sister always tells dates to early on about family info and they bolt as they see it as too much baggage and my husband agrees.
