I had mine out during my second trimester. I am a big wuss about dentists and it was a very unpleasant experience for me. (I swear if I wasn't PG the guy would have braced his foot on my chest when he was pulling that sucker!) Be warned that you may bleed more when you are pregnant. Baby was fine and I was OK afterwards.

I had mine out in my first trimester, and it was a horrible horrible experience. I was so sick from the pregnancy, then on top of it, I had all the pain from having my teeth out. Some people have no trouble at all, but I guess I was just unlucky. I ended up going to the hospital from getting a migrane from having my teeth out, and also getting dry socket in all four teeth. If I could go back, I would have waited until after I had my baby. But like I said, I just had a bad experience. It's perfectly safe as long as your dentist is aware that you are pregnant. Take care and good luck!

I hope your experience is better than mine. I was put to sleep and had an impacted wisdom tooth removed and they cracked my jaw which led to the tmj I now have and I ended up with dry socket which they had to pack everyday for almost two weeks. I have another impacted wisdom tooth right now and I am just going to deal with the pain until I give birth in April, I'm not taking any chances this time around. I couldn't eat for almost three weeks and was starving to death.

I did, but I was only about 10 weeks preg. I had a local too and it was fine. I couldn't tell if i was sick from morning sickness or if it was the pain killer I was put on, that's the worst that happened...couldn't keep anything down except water.

I had a full upper denture done in the middle of my last pregnancy...so ALL of my upper teeth had to come out. Novocaine is fine and yes it is too dangerous for the baby for you to be "put under". I talked to my OB and he said some low strength Motrin was fine to take; ask your OB for their advice on pain med. I actually hurt LESS once they were out...Good luck...

I haven't, but i know the risks involved if the surgery was necessary enough to do it while pregnant. Keep your holes clean and don't do anything the dentist said not to do. Any infection is bad for you and your baby. Best of luck to ya
