Yes, I once took my bmx mag wheels apart to see if they need greasing, I then put the front one back together again and couldn't understand why the axle was so long and tried trimming it with a hacksaw! Luckily the hacksaw was blunt, as I soon discovered the axles were different lengths when I put together the rear wheel. D'oh.

Yep. Sometimes when I am bored i go into the toolbox and take out a nice shiny screwdriver and I wander around the house looking for screws to tighten. Very satisfying. Then I might decide to give the vacuum cleaner a good old spring cleanig, so I remove every single scerw from its undercarriage, pull a few things about a bit, lose my bottle then try to put it all back again in a hurry. It never goes back the same way and I am always about 3 screws short by the time I have finished. This of course means the vacuum effect is lost. So I put the screwdriver away and go online to buy another vacuum cleaner. Happened twice last year :-(
