What if we were born in a world where guys could only marry guys and girls could only marry girls. Would we be shunned upon if a man tried to marry a woman. This is exactly how gay and lesbian people are treated. So what do you think?

Interesting question, although I'd be cautious of the types of answers it may provoke.

I know I'd be in big trouble from my first marriage!! (Oops I was really on drugs at the time...that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!)

Kind of what I figured, you're getting typical responces from the homophobes. "I don't have to because that's not how it is"
Not an answer at all to your question.

I think it is wrong to hate people and shun them just because they are different, that is why we MUST HAVE tougher gay hate crime laws, if when a gay person is beat up no matter how mild or sever the physical assault is the perpetrator can be charged with a felony and locked up for a good long time.

I believe this is the plot for the movie "Almost Normal", yes?

Anyhow, I agree with you. In order to judge actions, it's always a good idea to ask what it would be like if things were reversed. But then again, a lot of people disapprove of homosexuality because it is, apparently, 'unnatural', and that's why. So in a world where homosexuality was 'natural', they'd probably feel fine and justified in hating heterosexuals, you know? Bigots find ways to perpetuate their bigotry, always.

But I like to think that your words can help some people understand that 'normal' in sexual orientation is a social construct.

It's not that simple. We live in a world where our actions are governed more than by our own thoughts and beliefs. We are slaves to the media and peer pressure most of the time.

If only this was the case, i would be happy to have a much wider choice of males.
I wouldn't care if a guy and a girl still got together, that's fine with me.
Straight people should realize how lucky they are with so many people to choose from.

That's a pretty sweet point, and tell it to the people who are against the gay. Made me think a bit too ^-^

Gay-haters should count their blessings and be thankful that isn't the society we live in. They'd really be screwed. Instead it's us that is screwed, and the gay-haters are having as much fun with it as they can.

I think you are making a very good point, sweetheart. If two people are in love....it shouldn't matter.
