This proved true for me, but I am sure it isn't true for all.
I think the logic behind it is to stop focusing on finding someone else and start focusing on finding yourself. In the process of doing that you become a better person and more attractive inside and out. Cheesy I know, but that is my opinion :)

by your editorial comment of "i haven't been looking and i still haven't found squat", i do not believe you have given up on looking for love.
you will truly stop looking for it when a chunk of time has passed and a man sparks an interest in you and the feeling is mutual. then you realize, geesh, i haven't been looking.
get involved in other parts of your life - read a book, visit with friends, go to movies with friends, find a hobby, something to occupy your time and thoughts regarding a person of the opposite sex and is this mister right.
the saying is true, but only learned through experience.

No, I don't think that's true at all. In fact I think the reverse is true: you find it because you look.
I think what this saying is really getting after is that fact that a person who is desperate to "find someone" is going to have a hard time of it. But it's not because the person is looking; it's his misery that's the problem. If you're happy with your single life and would be happy staying single, but you go out and look anyway because you'd prefer to be in a relationship . . . you'll probably find one.

I think that saying has some truth to it!! I met might my Husband at a Grocery store when Ieast expected it. I was in college and thinking about joining the Air Force before I met him. So I was really in for a shocker. After 3 weeks of dating, we got engaged then married 6 months after, all in one year!!!!! Now, here I am 4 years later, happily married and with one beautiful boy!!!! I'm living proof that it's true and it can happen to you. Don't get discouraged and for now enjoy life for it may happen when you least expect it!!!!! Good Luck!!!!

Yes, it's true. When you least expect it the love of your life will come along. Probably in the most unlikely way.

I would have to agree with you. I'm not looking and haven't found it. Of course, to be honest, unless it's labelled as "LOVE" and is really obvious, I'm not going to notice.

I hate that saying!!
The only way I've ever found anything besides my own toes was to get out there and look for it.
