In the world of film, the director is god. They guide the entire process, from influencing which actors to cast to approving the musical score. Of course, the more money a director has, the more influence they can exude. But even if someone's not Steven Spielberg, a director still has a lot of power.
Good luck to you!!

Director have most of the creative control depending al the director. Directors like Speilberg probably get 100% control on their set because he is so reknown and 70-95% control on casting. Most directors that are not well know can have 70-90% may be over all. In all cases a director can be changed in a decision because of the producer because he is in control of the money. If ythey don't like an actor, a place or the fact that you can be hitting over budget then he can pull rank and put the director in his place, but that happens behind the scenes.

The director is the creative head. He controls the entire crew and makes them do the needed job in the production. A director should have knowledge of the technical developments and an aesthetic sense to implement it within the limited time and space. As a creator, he signs the most valuable lines when it comes to filmmaking. And last, he should be a great man too, having the ability to understand what life is and what surrounds him.

Ultimately, the director has the final say over everything. But remember that there are TONS of jobs in the industry. There are jobs most people dont know exist. And it doesnt have to lead up to the film industry either. TV, broadcasting, or post production houses have a lot of exciting choices too.
