Alright, this is going to sound really stupid, but i have played foreward for a long time, i am now playing shooting guard, i can dribble pretty good, and shoot outside as well, so here comes the stupid question; what do i do when i get the ball on the wing? i just dont know what to do ps: i am 5'11" and can jump high enough to grab rim, if that helps

Well if you catch the ball on the wing you can have many options. If you catch it in the triple threat mode (dribble-drive, shoot or pass) I would read the floor. If you can shoot the ball and you're wide open then shoot it. A shooting guard is normally one of the best shooters on the team. I wouldn't suggest to shoot first. I would again encourage you to read the floor. If you can shoot well then you'll lull the defense into going straight for you to defend against your shot. This will in turn open-up the dribble drive or the pass to an open team-mate. Basketball at time a game of feel and rhythm. Hope this helps.

Asaph23 has a pretty good answer on this. One thing I would add is to work on having your feet set and facing the basket ready to shoot when you catch the ball on the wing. This allows you time to shoot if you are open. It also forces the defender to run out at you harder, which allows you to drive past him easier. If your coach doesn't understand this concept (many don't) you can check some basketball websites for tips and drills. Also I would watch Ray Allen of the Sonics or some tape of Reggie Miller. Two of the greatest 2 guards ever when it comes to moving without the ball and having great fundatmentals with footwork. Good luck!

take your time man!! The game will come to you. you just have to let it. Okay when u get the ball dont panic. Just wait a second look around are u open? If you're open then take the shot if that your spot on the floor. is someone coming at you? Pump fake and go the hole.
Is someone open? then pass the ball . all times u got three options dribble.pass, shoot it very simple. develops your strengths are you a good shooter? or a better passer?

Never drive baseline, you can drive and try to do a dunk, but if you can't use your body and go through the other players, put up the easy deuce!
