Hamsters, why? They are cuddly and you can actually play with them. The guinea pig is kind of cuddly but really doesn't play much, and I think they leave to many droppings, but its your decision! Both are Ok.

Guinea pigs take a LOT more space, but they're also easier to tame than hamsters. I've never had a pig... had tons of hamsters though. It really just depends on your preferences and how much space you're willing to devote to a cage. I think guinea pigs are noisier too, which should be considered if it's going to be kept in a bedroom. Hamsters make noise by chewing or running in their wheels, but guinea pigs have grunts, squeaks, squeals, etc... PLUS chewing and wheel noises. Just a thought.
You can find lots of info on guinea pigs by looking up "cavy" or "cavies" in your search engine.

well my son has 3 hamster´s & there so cute, one is black with just a small mark of white & the other 2 are a lovely greyish coulor , there names are chispa, blancito , preziosa. We have hour´s of fun with them you never get bored of wathching them, easy to feed , & if you do decide to get a hamster you must remember to give them some little branches from an apple tree . this help´s them keep there teeth nice & trim. I don´t really know much about guinea pig´s so I can´t give you any advice on them . But you will be one who will look after your pet , so therefore you should chose. Tell your dad I said that , have fun

if your dad wants a guinea pig then he should get a guinea pig and you should get a hampster. guinea pigs are better in groups and hamsters are usually better alone. guinea pigs also don't like being held and petted as much as most people wish.
i think you could solve this by getting a ferret. they are about the size of a guinea pig and spastic and happy like a hamster.

You HAVE to get a HAMSTER! I just got a hamster 3 months ago her name is marble and she is just sooo sweet! You clean the cage every week, give them lots of food and water and treats and they love playing in a running ball. a pet store near you will tell you all this. They like to be up in the evenings to play and are usually up all night playing in the cage. A hamster is easier to care for to that's my opinion anyway. Hope this helps.

Well... If you really like hamsters, and you're gonna be the one to take care of it then i'd suggest a hamster. But if you want something a little bigger and easier to let out of its cage and stuff then i'd suggest a hamster. Both are nice pets... have fun and good luck!

well its really up to you but, hamsters in my point of veiw are better because guinea pigs tend to smell worse and you have to sometimes trim thier hair if it gets too long. hamsters you wont have to worry about that.

From my exposure.... guinea pigs squeel (loud) and stink. Hamsters are quiet (except if you have squeeky wheel in cage) and the smell is mild.
