I say the VW Beetle, my friend says his 66 Mustang.

VW if you have a friend to help you lift out the engine...I saw two people do a complete engine change by hand in about 3 hours. Thats from parking to removal and replacement, they then drove away. = )

I would say the VW Bug. I owned a 66 Mustang, however, and I learned most everything I know about how a car works from that beast.

There are few modern cars that are simpler to repair than the VW air cooled bug from 1962 to 1976. Another close one is the Suzuki Samurai from the 80's. As cars moved into safety end emissions requirements they got more and more complex.

Hands down its the VW Beetle. I dropped the engine and changed the clutch by myself in one afternoon.

You are right both ways. I am not a mechanic, but this is what anyone who does work on cars will tell you. VW or older Ford.

One of my old cars a 1964 ford falcon I replaced the starter from the top did not have to get under it

After you are used to working on one car, and you pretty much know it like the back of your hand, then that's the easiest for you! It all depends on what your familiar with.

i agree with the mustang foreign cars are generally harder to work on and get parts for.
